 Welcome, all, to the third year of the Schuyler Art Website; we have just had our first inquiry from a person who has a painting by Ted Schuyler that they are interested in selling.  Needless to say, this has never been envisioned as a sales site, only informational.  However, if anyone has any ideas to share about the possibilities, let us know.

Hello,

I met Ted with my late father Rev. G. Rogers Smith when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I thoroughly enjoyed looking at his work and listening to him talk and before we left that day he laid out a number of paintings and asked which one I wanted. We used to visit Ghost Ranch every year in Abiqu,NM so I asked if I could have that one. It is titled "Ghost Ranch" and was painted in 1969. I have enjoyed it my whole life. I have no interet in selling it, but as I was recently robbed (they did not take any art), I am concerned about the value of things for insurance purposes. Do you have any idea what an approximate value would be?

I lived in New Mexico for many years and was given 3 etchings by Lee Clarke Schuyler. One is of a pine tree dated 1990, one is titled "dogwood and Maple" dated 1992 and the third is titled "tent rocks" and dated 1992. They all hang in my house here in Naples Florida and I love them. I was very pleased to discover this website to learn more about Lee Clarke Schuyler. Thank You Dusty Holmes

It sas great hearing from Dusty Holmes. I'm wondering who gifted him with Lee's etchings, since I can't make the connection, but what a delight!

My grandfather, Lee Hoyt Schuyler, was one of Uncle Ted's older brothers. I remember visiting him with my family and seeing the religious paintings in progress that he did for the 2nd Presbyterian Church when I was a child. My mother Ruth (90) still has the letter he wrote to her on the occasion of my birth - his beautiful writing was a work of art in itself. I remember seeing the mural on the wall in Old Town probably 50 years ago, and I'm so happy to learn that it was restored. I grew up seeing the portraits of my parents every day that were posted by my niece Juli in your New Additions. Mom recently got a lap-top and is on-line now, so I'll refer her to this site.
