Art by Lorna Barreras
Skeleton Ship
Watercolor 9 x 12" From a scene on the way to Las Vegas, NV from Arizona. Lorna and Mel make many trips to extremely fascinating locals in AZ, NV and UT. Both are accomplished photographers, and Mel, also a science teacher (close to Trudie's heart!) has impressive telescope equipment. It is not any wonder, then, that Lorna has wonderful subject matter to work from.

Canyon Reflections
Watercolor 9x12". When first starting to learn painting, Lorna opted to limit herself to watercolors, and Trudie advised her to "keep it simple", working with the technique of going from lighter to darker values in a purely transparent mode. She uses a watercolor block for ease in painting, avoiding having to stretch paper and so on.

2019 Challenge QuiltLorna's heroic endeavor to use up Ray's "stash of fabric" has led to many quilts, large and small. This Queen size bedspread in a "sampler style" is only one of her many productions. Although she is becoming a whiz with design and color coordination (a gift she has always had), like her Dad she does not have any interest in the stitching together front, batting and backing, so commissions a long-arm quilter for that.
