CERAMICS
A new departure for Trudie since the move back to Albuquerque from Atlanta was to begin to work with ceramics. Like Lee, Trudie was always interested in sculpture, especially in terms of modeling with clay. Unfortunately, she had never previously had access to a facility with a kiln. That has now been remedied, but due to the fact that age and arthritis has taken its toll on hand-strength, she was making a slow start. During COVID, Trudie was unable to continue attending the workshops, and subsequent circumstances have precluded rejoining the group. However, it was a "brief, shining moment" and to complete the picture of "Schuyler Art", a few examples are included here.
The first ceramic piece to be featured is actually by Lorna Barreras, Trudie's middle daughter. This dragon is done in a special dark "chocolate clay" with a light brushing of blue glaze.
